alt On February 2nd 2016, we participated on the meeting of the Parliament Committee on Health and Social Policy organized for patient organizations representatives. The central topics of the meeting were how to protect and promote the rights of patients and the difficulties they encountered in implementation of their patients rights in Croatia.

The meeting was attended by representatives of associations of parents and children suffering from malignant diseases "Love in Action" and "Firefox"; Association of children with disabilities, people with disabilities and their families, "Heart"; Croatian Association of Deaf-Blind Persons "Touch"; Croatian Association of the Blind; Croatian Association of patients; Society for the Protection of Health Petrinja; Croatian League Against Rheumatism; Society for the Protection of diabetes Osijek; Croatian Association of treated and ill with hepatitis "Hepatos"; & nbsp; Croatian movement for the rights of patients and the Commission for Protection of Patients' Rights in Zagreb.

This month marks the date of the series dedicated to various diseases, and this is a great opportunity for the Board of Health and Social Policy about the problems faced by patients' associations and encourage cooperation with them, said the start of the meeting the president of the Committee Ines Strenja- Linic. She added that patients are the focus of our health care system and they are the basis from where comments and suggestions to solve their problems. - Therefore, good communication between the associations ie. Patients and institutions of the health system is necessary, said Strenja-Linic.

"Hepatos" President Tatjana Reić informed participants about the importance of developing a national strategy for patients infected with viral hepatitis and the need to better inform citizens about the disease, that blood testing for hepatitis C in Croatia began in 1993, and that today in our country nearly 45,000 patients have hepatitis.
