1 For the 12 years Hepatos is marking World Hepatitis Day (WHD)in Croatia. Since 2011, as official WHO day it is marked on 28/7.

Public actions of marking this year’s World Hepatitis Day were organized by, Croatian Association of the ill and treated “Hepatos” and Croatian Alliance of Hepatitis Patients RH (SOH RH), under auspice of the Ministry of Health of Republic of Croatia, WHO Office in Croatia, European Liver Patients' Association (ELPA), and World Hepatitis Aliance (WHA). This was part of global campaign aimed at raising awareness about viral hepatitis and to encouraging the public to test and early diagnosis of the disease, because it is the most effective way of opposing, sometimes, deadly consequences in cooperation with for treatment and diagnostics of viral hepatitis, the Public Health Institute and the Governmental office for combating narcotic drug abuse.

Following participated in the actions: Referral Centre of viral hepatitis of Ministry of Health, physicians/specialists of the Institute of Public Health "dr. A Štampar" and City Department of Health of the City of Zagreb following activities were organized for marking World Hepatitis Day 2015:.

- 09:00 – 12:00: info pult and presentation of Mobile InfoHep Centre at University Hospital for Infectious Diseases „dr. Fran Mihaljević“;





 

- 09:30 – 10:00: presentation of Mobile InfoHep Centre during press conference at the University Hospital for Infectious Diseases „dr. Fran Mihaljević“ with:

Prof. dr. sc. Adriana Vince, dr. med., Head of the Referral Center for diagnostics and treatment of the viral hepatitis in Croatia
Dr. sc. Tamara Poljičanin, dr. med., the Head of the Croatian Institute for Public Health
Slavko Antolić, dr. med., City Department of Health of the City of Zagreb
Mr. sc. Tatjana Reić, dr. vet. med., President of the Croatian Alliance of Hepatitis Patient Associations and of The European Liver Patients Association (ELPA)

- 10:00 – 12:00: participation at traditional professional symposium at a University Hospital for Infectious Diseases “Dr. Fran Mihaljević”





- od 18:30 – 21:00: Mobile InfoHep Center public action at the Flower Square in Zagreb;
During the public action in Mobile InfoHep Center we have provided services of testing for hepatitis C (ie, rapid saliva tests) with information and advisory conversation. Testing for hepatitis C was conducted by Petra Kreković, MD and Maja Muratovic, BSc. from the Department of School and Adolescent Medicine of the Institute for Public Health "Dr. Andrija Štampar" while counseling interviews wich conducted Davorka Dušek, MD, from Clinic for Infectious Diseases "Dr. Fran Mihaljevic ".
In addition to numerous citizens, public action was also supported by Mirjana Lana Kosanovic Licina, MD, spec., epidemiologist, head of the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology, Melita Jelavic, dr. med., head of the Department of Epidemiology of chronic non-communicable diseases from Institute for Public Health Institute "Dr. A. Štampar ", president of Europa Donna Croatia, Croatian Forum Against Breast Cancer doc. Ph. D.. Vesna Ramljak, prim. dr. med., and representatives of the City Office for Health of the City of Zagreb.
We have tested 98 people, of which 0 were HCV positive.
